Carnival

What is a Showcase and how is it different from a carnival?

A showcase is a chance for the skaters to all show present to friends and family what they have learned this year and show how much they have improved.  There will be decorations on the ice and they will skate in costume and to music.  Each group will be led by a Program Assistant and or Coach.

A carnival is a production for all the skaters to participate in.  There are lots of decorations on and off the ice.  Parents of skaters bring in a prize donation for our fabulous prize table, we have programs that companies, businesses and families can purchase add space in, we sell roses for our skaters fans to give to the skaters after their performances, a theme based photo booth area for selfies or group shots and we have an awesome door prize.  Each PreCanSkate and CanSkater is presented with a certificate after the finale along with their report cards.  Skaters within their groups have costumes that they skate a routine based on the theme of the carnival.  It is something that is much more involved and requires many volunteers to pull off.  We plan these months in advance and sometimes start decoration making the summer prior.

The club has decided that we will alternate each year between a carnival and showcase.  Last year we did a carnival and therefore this season we will be doing the showcase.

Thank you in advance for allowing us to be a part of your child’s skating experience.  We have enjoyed watching the progress they have all made.

March 28, 2018

As they say in show biz…That’s a wrap! There are so many thanks to be had so here it goes: To all the amazing volunteers that helped set up today, to everyone who brought food for the Food bank, coaches and Program Assistants for being so dedicated this season, our wonderful fans that came out to cheer the skaters on, our amazing MC, the most incredible group of skating parents imaginable and to the cutest and most dedicated group of skaters we could ever ask for! Lastly to the huge clean up crew who literally had the decorations not just down but put away in about 15 minutes. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! We wish all our skaters could have attended tonight, you were missed. Showcase Spring Fling was a great way to cap off a hugely successful skating season and we can t wait for the next one to start!

To everyone who submitted an ad for the programs, your support is so appreciated. Thanks to those who came out and helped decorate the night before, set up in the morning and helped take down after the carnival! Thank you to our group moms who stepped up and sat with our wonderful skaters in the stands. Coach George for creating, editing the music and making awesome routines and to Coach Shaylene Shelby and Melanie, who helped George’s vision come to life and prepare the skaters for the carnival. Then there were so many people who did whatever was asked and picked up the slack wherever needed. Not just the day of the carnival, but for the months leading up to it!
